When mandatory
All government-funded retrofit works (ECO4, Home Upgrade Grant, Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund) require PAS 2035 compliance — which mandates a retrofit coordinator. Some local authority and warranty schemes require coordinators for private deep retrofits.
When valuable (even if not required)
Listed buildings and pre-1919 solid-brick stock — moisture risk management essential. Deep retrofits with 3+ measures — coordination prevents conflicts. Homes targeting EPC A or B — performance gap risk reduces with PAS 2035 oversight. Returns on cost: better in-use energy performance and lower moisture/damp risk.
